"If we turn to another part of Glamorgan, the prosperous and more anglicised Vale, a quite different pattern emerges: for the most part, people have two names and ap rarely appears. In St George's parish, recognisable surnames are found in greater numbers -- examples are Bassett, Gibbon and Wrench. Mault Lougher bears that unusual thing, a locative place-name.
